We are reaching out to candidates for seats representing Palm Beach County to ask their positions, opinions, or feelings about medical marijuana / cannabis. This page is dedicated to US FL-21. Check our event calendar for upcoming events relating to local politics.
If a position includes a phrase similar to “I need to see the research”, we are following up with asking about the position on rescheduling cannabis so scientists in the United States can use federal funds to fund their research.

I am OK with the SAFE banking act as long as it respects every State’s rights to decide on their own medicinal use policy.twitter

I don’t think at the federal level, as long as you stay within the state of Florida that you’re not really committing crimes that anyone is going to come knocking at your door about. You’re going to run into trouble when traveling to another state that doesn’t share. Part of the government is keeping it state level. What the left seems to forget is that they want more federal involvement in your lives. How the constitution was originally created — how this country was originally created — was for the states to run things with the federal government as an overseeing branch able to help when they needed the help. But to answer your question it’s not something that the federal government is going to be knocking on your door about, and you just need to make sure when you’re traveling you don’t go to a state (where it’s illegal).Audio Here

I can empathize with you. The only reason why I don’t have a medical marijuana card, because I actually do have conditions that qualify for them, one of the biggest reasons is that whenever I go out to buy a firearm there’s a question on there “do you use any illegal substances”. And it’s kind of contradictory if someone can go ahead and abuse a a prescribed medication, Oxycontin or what have you, and they can go ahead and answer that question legitimately and say “I’m not” and they can still go ahead and purchase a firearm. I’m a firm believer in that if the medical science backing it up is legitimate and there’s actually a benefit to the patient, I am fully behind fully repealing all the marijuana laws behind medical marijuana.Audio Here

I think it’s a legitimate question and there have been a lot of studies that show that medical marijuana has a lot of medicinal cures. I personally have a brother who has epilepsy and he has not had a seizure in a very long time because he smokes marijuana. So I completely emphasize with people who have to smoke marijuana. My opponent of course brought up a very valid point that when you go to purchase a firearm or get your concealed carry permit they do ask this question. And so, I think it’s important to have a discussion about marijuana reform. I personally would not have a problem legalizing marijuana.
Another issue too is that outside of medical marijuana is the issue of criminal justice reform and it’s something that president Donald Trump has made, you know, a key issue within his administration. It’s something many presidencies have tried to work on but have failed drastically and president Donald Trump is receiving support on a bipartisan level and there are a lot of homes, a lot of families in America that have been broken up because of people being jailed for petty crime offenses with marijuana and so there’s a lot of issues regarding the marijuana conversation whether it’s a medicinal or criminal justice that I look forward with discussing with my constituents.Audio Here
